York Suburban Lacrosse Club :: Online Handbook Chapter 5: Season Overview
The following outlines an entire season for the club. For specific dates and times, please check team pages and the Club Forum. September-February: Registration & Scheduling During the December through February timeframe games are scheduled, player registrations are processed and fields are requisitioned for the season. Updates are made to the website throughout this timeframe to provide updated game and practice schedules, rosters and more. February: U9/U11 Indoor Practices & U13/U15 Mandatory Practice Begins During the month of February, the U13 and U15 teams continue Winter LAX sessions while the U9 and U11 teams hold one indoor practice a week. In mid-February the U13 and U15 begin holding mandatory outdoor team practices. March: Practices & The World's Longest Running Lacrosse Game March is filled each year with outdoor practices for all teams. During March there are typically 2-3 practices per week for the U9/U11 teams and 3-5 per week for the U13/U15 teams. Typically teams will not play games in March, however a few may be scheduled towards the end of the month. In mid-March, all teams participate in the The World's Longest Running Lacrosse Game (WLRLG), a charity event for which there is an entrance cost. The WLRLG is host to nearly 40 teams playing lacrosse all day and all night to raise enough money to supply a wish for the Make A Wish foundation. April: Pracitces, Games & Team Pictures April is a busy month. Between practices and playing a full game schedule, participants can expect to have something lacrosse-related to do 3-5 days per week. Team pictures are taken in April on a combined practice date. May: Pracitces, Games, LaxFest, YCLA Tournament & Team Party The season comes to an end in May. In early May all final practices are held and final games are played. LaxFest, a day of All-Star York County lacrosse is held in the middle of the month. Around the same time as LaxFest, each club team plays an additional 3-5 games in the YCLA Lacrosse Tournament. Following LaxFest and the YCLA Tournament a team party is held to celebrate playing lacrosse. |
